My piece for a “Crypto Fauna” show at Sanctuary Tattoo in Portland Maine. It’s a creation myth based around the Easter Bunny. The tears are tears of joy.
Reblogging for Easter. Happy Easter everyone!
By the way, I’m selling a print of this piece on my storenvy account. Great for getting into that eggy spirit.
Statue update! A lot of these sculptures were done by Franklin B. Simmons, and boy did he like arm bracelets. These statues are a bit more spaced out in the actual museum, plus they’re in this swell round room with tons of sunlight! So pretty.
Ok! This is a more official way to present my progress on this project. Here’s some more of the paintings I’ve inked so far. If you’ve been to the Portland Museum of Art, perhaps you’ve seen some of these fab paintings!

Heya Folks. If I’ve been scarce lately, it’s for two reasons. First, I’m working on Rascal and Spats 2, and having a lot of fun of it! Secondly, I’ve sketched over 200 paintings and sculptures from the Portland Museum of Art in Portland Maine, and I’m now in the process of inking them. Here’s what a couple of them look like. The early American portraiture has been especially fun to draw. I’ll post drawings from this project every so often, and maybe some work in progress on Rascal and Spats if yall are interested.
For Christmas Mangneto drew Spats with a rad poncho thingy, and I’ll all about that. Here’s Spats pretending to be a gun slingin’ cowboy. It’s a proven FACT that holding and shooting four guns at once is the most deadly thing you can do. Do not attempt unless you are a cool cowpoke.
Oh! and a little sketch of a character my friend Melanie drew in another part of my sketchbook.
More of Fat Rascal. I think I drew this one with my left hand? Boy I sure hope so!!!
I’ve got a couple sketches of Fat Rascal tonight. Here he is exhibiting his strange and extraordinary ability to eat lots of Ramen without ever getting sick of it. Inspired by a Magnetic Fields song of the same name, probably!
Welcome to Cheer Up Brigade After Dark, where I’ll be bringing you a bunch of crap from my sketchbook and elsewhere. Don’t tell mah and pah! Up first is a page of Catbugs from waaaaay back during the character design contest at my school. Here’s a few of Catbug’s most famous lines. Woah!
UGGH CHENEY You pup-pet master!!!
Here’s a comic drawn on my awful little track pad. What grand adventures Fat Rascal gets himself into.
Here’s a new cover I made for Rascal and Spats.
Rascal and Spats #2 is coming this summer. Look out for it!
Edit: Here’s the old cover for cross reference. I didn’t like how busy the old one is. It’s not nearly graphic enough for my tastes anymore.
Ya little stinkin’ fink!
Just drew a bunch of little doodles today. Gotta get back into the groove of art making!
As a dyed in the wool Mainer, I thought it’d be fun to share a little “Mainah Flavah” with the rest of you folks. Here’s a comic about the times my brother and I would help our pop with his seafood business. We’d while away the hours shucking oysters and looking up Mainer Lingo online for silly tumblr pictures. Oh, those were the days.
I know that it’s fun to “boogie down” and have a few “sips of a drink,” but please.
Make sure your drinks are nice and cooled before you slurp it down ya dopes! You’ll burn your tongue!!!
Slappy Paint Hatricks ya punks!
Drink green and chase away snakes.
